Everton may have to sell two players to survive the short-term impact of a collapsed takeover deal.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Everton are in a good position to support themselves in the short term if the 777 deal falls through.
777 Partners are still yet to meet the conditions laid out by the Premier League for a takeover deal, with a deadline now set on May 31.
Maguire previously told Football Insider that it would be “very surprising” if 777 are able to complete a deal before the new deadline.
However, the US group have loaned over £200 million to help Everton with operating costs and stadium construction fees, and a takeover collapse could leave the club short of funds.
Maguire explained that the opening of the summer transfer window and payments from the Premier League will allow Everton to raise enough money to cover their day-to-day costs.
Everton could complete double sale to survive 777 collapse
“Everton should get a payment from the Premier League in terms of merit payments for 2023-24,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“They now have the ability to sell a player, probably two, as we’re approaching the opening of the transfer window.
“So I think in the very short term their cash flow requirements are likely to be met independently of 777.

“This doesn’t address the broader issues that are arriving in respect of the Bramley Moore Dock Stadium project.
“But I think in the very short term, they have enough wiggle room to be able to deal with things on a day-to-day basis.“
