Exploring the World of Millets: A Journey Through History and Culture
As I ponder over a captivating image of honey-glazed carrots with sorghum salsa, my mind drifts to the possibility of trying out an amaranth porridge with blueberry compote for breakfast tomorrow. This newfound curiosity towards millets has been sparked by Google’s latest online exhibition, “Millets: Seeds of Change.” In collaboration with India’s Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Google Arts and Culture aims to celebrate the rich history and global significance of millets, with India being the largest producer in the world.

In a conversation with Pierre Caessa, the head of partnerships for Google Arts & Culture in India, we explore the inspiration behind the millets exhibition and more.
How did the idea of launching an exhibition on millets come about?
Pierre – We believe that food and gastronomy are integral parts of culture. Our aim is to shine a light on the diverse culinary landscape of India. Last year, being the International Year of Millets, provided the perfect opportunity to elevate this humble crop to a global audience.
