After a 25-year hiatus, Lou Barlow and John Davis of Folk Implosion have reunited to bring us their latest album, Walk Thru Me. The duo has recently released two new tracks from the upcoming album, ‘My Little Lamb’ and ‘Bobblehead Doll’, giving fans a taste of what’s to come.
In a statement about ‘My Little Lamb’, Barlow expressed, “That’s my first stab at articulating what it’s like being a dad. I wanted it to include all of the light shit and all of the dark shit,” showcasing the emotional depth and complexity of the song.
On the other hand, ‘Bobblehead Doll’ brings a different perspective, originally written by Davis 15 years ago. Davis, who also directed the music video for the track, describes it as a reflection of an intimate relationship where one party would rather be propped up than engage in differing opinions. He compares the song to a mashup of Noam Chomsky’s Manufacturing Consent and the iconic ‘Beautiful World’ by DEVO.
The highly anticipated album Walk Thru Me is set to release on June 28 through Joyful Noise Recordings. The album has been preceded by the single ‘Moonlit Kind’, giving fans a taste of the musical evolution and reunion of these two talented artists.
