Greg Vanney is determined to inject some energy into the LA Galaxy as they prepare to face off against the Houston Dynamo in an attempt to break a streak of four consecutive draws on Saturday.
The Galaxy find themselves on a five-game winless streak in MLS, with their most recent goalless draw against Charlotte resulting in a drop to fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
Having played four out of their last five matches on the road, LA is now gearing up to play four of their next five games at Dignity Health Sports Park, where they secured their last victory.
“This upcoming phase is crucial for us to generate some momentum in all aspects, especially with the advantage of playing in front of our home crowd during this upcoming stretch,” remarked Vanney, as reported by The Galactic Tribune.
“While we still have one more away game ahead, our aim is to capitalize on the momentum we build and secure some crucial points.”
The Houston Dynamo have only managed to clinch one victory in their last six MLS fixtures and recently settled for a 1-1 draw against FC Dallas, leaving them in eighth place in the Western Conference.
Although Ben Olsen remains positive about the Dynamo’s recent performances, he acknowledges the need to learn from their recent outcomes.
“While our current results may not accurately reflect our performances, we have managed to maintain a consistent rhythm. Despite not maximizing the points, we are showing promising signs in our approach to games,” Olsen stated.
“We will continue to work hard and strive for improvement. Giving up is definitely not an option.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH
LA Galaxy – Joseph Paintsil
Paintsil has been instrumental in contributing to at least one goal in four consecutive home matches, boasting two goals and three assists. His impressive performance is reminiscent of Douglas Costa, the only other Galaxy player in the last decade to record an assist in four straight home matches back in 2023.
Houston Dynamo – Ibrahim Aliyu
Aliyu has been a key player for the Dynamo, finding the back of the net four times this season. Despite Amine Bassi scoring his first goal in Houston’s recent draw against Dallas, Aliyu remains the only player to score more than a single goal for the team.
MATCH PREDICTION – LA GALAXY WIN
The Galaxy’s string of four consecutive draws, including the recent 0-0 result against Charlotte, signifies their determination to claim victory. They have shared points seven times this year, the joint-highest in the league. The last time LA drew five consecutive regular-season matches was in May 2009.
While the Dynamo have had some success against the Galaxy on the road, they have struggled to maintain consistency, alternating between wins and losses away from home. Despite their solid defensive record at Dignity Health Sports Park, the Galaxy are poised to secure a win in this upcoming encounter.
